Central Alternative
Guidance
Ms. Black, Counselor
6th- 7th-8th
Central’s guidance department is designed to meet the needs of all students. The guidance counselor provides hand on relationships with all students that enter Central. Each student is given an individual assessment to determine their behavioral and academic objectives, their personal needs and short term goals.
The students participate in individual counseling, small group counseling, transitional groups and classroom guidance. They also are involved in school wide activities to help build self-esteem, self confidence and self respect.
The counselor goals for the students at Central are to encourage students to work to their potential, improve behavior in and out of the classroom and achieve academic success. If students make an effort todo these things this will help in the transition back to their home schools.
The counselor is not limited to just working with students, but also works with staff members, teachers, administrators, parents and community agencies. The counselor’s office is considered a sone stop shop counseling center, attempting to meet the social, emotional, physical or educational needs to all who stop by..
